The digital security company Veritas this week announced a new update (8.3) of NetBackup, which now also performs the protection and recovery of company data within any digital environment, whether in multicloud clouds, hybrid structures or edge devices.

The investment in this functionality is due to the growth of ransomware attacks, which look for loopholes in the different devices and digital systems of companies to capture and trade valuable data. According to research carried out by Veritas, the direct damage of this type of attack exceeds the annual value of US $ 11.5 billion.

In a statement, the company says the update will help companies significantly reduce risks generated by inoperable systems, as it will be possible to concentrate all data traffic – such as applications, workloads, data and clouds – within a single platform and detect faster than any inconsistent. The cost reduction, generated by this integration, was also a factor punctuated by the brand.

“Scale, flexibility and simplicity continue to motivate the adoption of the cloud. Although the benefits of this strategy are well known, it also poses data protection challenges, as the adoption of multiple products increases risk and operational complexity,” said in the announcement Christophe Bertrand, senior analyst at the Enterprise Strategy Group (ESG). “However, it is possible to simplify the backup and recovery challenge by standardizing everything on a single platform.”
