The number of people infected with the Covid-19 coronavirus on the Diamond Princess cruise ship quarantined in Japan has increased to 355, Japanese Health Minister Katsunobu Kato announced today.
In the last 24 hours, 70 more cases were confirmed. Kato said, in a statement on the public broadcaster NHK, that 1,219 people have been tested so far.
The Diamond Princess, which docked in Yokohama, a port city southwest of Tokyo, has been quarantined with more than 3,600 people on board.
About 380 Americans on the ship are expected to be repatriated today, according to the United States Embassy.
