It is already known that a healthy and natural bronze favors the skin tone of almost all women: it disguises dark circles, improves the appearance of cellulite, makes us look more toned. In summer, with exposure to the sun (always protected), the skin tends to tan naturally, but there are other ways to achieve it. Or at least keep it. Yes, it’s not just carrots, there are foods that increase the production of melanin, true tanning activators (and prolongers). In addition, they contribute to protect against UV rays and cellular damage and promote skin elasticity, preventing the appearance of spots and wrinkles.

In its purest form, red palm oil has 15 times more vitamin A than carrots and is rich in carotenoids, pigments that help to regulate the skin’s cellular level and achieve a beautiful and long-lasting bronze. It can be used in the preparation of a dish or in a dish that has already been cooked – for example, on top of a ready-made salad.

And speaking of greens, all foods containing beta-carotenes, pigments that enhance the much-desired golden tone kissed by the sun, are welcome. “Beta-carotene is an antioxidant carotenoid pigment that is present in the most colorful foods”, explains Tomás Barbosa, nutritionist. We can find it in green and orange foods like apricot, melon, loquat, cantaloupe, strawberries, pumpkin, spinach, chard, lettuce or broccoli. In addition, it is important to consume foods that have “vitamin A and B vitamins (mainly vitamin B1, B2), phosphorus and iron”, continues the nutritionist. “Eating? Over every two hours, maximum three in three hours? Foods with these characteristics” is essential. These are, for example, “carrots, sweet potatoes, dark-leaf vegetable peppers, mango, papaya or beets.”

In addition to these, all foods that contain vitamin C also prevent skin aging. We can find them in quick combinations like a simple melon and lemon juice or in other fruits like acerola, black currant, kiwi or strawberry.

And the list goes on. However, one must not forget the fundamental: drinking enough water. It moisturizes our skin from the inside out and keeps the nutrients active for the proper functioning of the metabolism, ensuring a healthy tan.
