Call for the Media: ESA Earth Observation Week (Phi Week)

The media are invited to Week-Week (being ‘Φ’, phi, pronounced ‘fi’), an international five-day event organized by ESA on the latest space relevant developments, and will take place at the Earth Observation Center. in Frascati, Italy, from September 9 through 13, 2019.
While Earth Observation (EO) is a clear focus, Week-Week takes a broader angle to encompass other space technologies and innovative ICT solutions. The event includes inspiring lectures, seminars, roundtables, a bootcamp startup, side events, and hackathons to explore how new technologies are shaping the future of EO and space.
The event connects multidisciplinary communities, helping them to:
- get information on the latest trends in EO Open Science, New space and the impact of new technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (THERE);
- connect and interact with the new space ecosystem, including scientists, innovators, corporate leaders, startups and investors;
- discover the latest technology and space trends from keynote speakers;
- learn about a wide range of topics from Open EO Science The THERE, Blockchain, AR / VR, additive manufacturing and their applications in all industries;
- innovate by bringing your idea to the discussion about future evolution of EO.
The opening session on Monday 9 September will start at 1:30 pm and provides for special contributions from ESA Director General Jan Wörner and ESA Director of Earth Observation Programs Josef Aschbacher.

In parallel, an intensive five-day Φ-Week Bootcamp will also be organized to guide people through the project sprint process, answering critical questions about design, prototyping, and testing of Earth observation ideas.
