As in various situations, conspiracy theories are something that comes up whenever people try to explain something they can't understand. There are also conspiracy theories about Covid-19. The one we're going to talk about involves 5G.
Apparently people are believing that there is a connection between 5G and Covid-19 so that some posts that power 5G are already damaged. In addition to damage to the posts, there were also attacks on engineers who later tried to fix them. People who have done such acts will be held accountable.
There have already been requests to social networks not to feed this situation but the truth is that such an issue can even be a challenge to freedom of expression. But the truth is that social networks have a very important role in terms of theories and rumors that are created in the most varied situations. Bearing in mind that we live in a moment of great panic, rumors can aggravate this situation and lead people to behave less correctly.
With regard to the theory that 5G has something to do with Covid-19, scientists say that this is nothing more than speculation and that it has no veracity whatsoever as it is biologically impossible.
Some of the social media platforms have already taken steps to try to resolve the rumors but have not completely banned the issue.
For example, Pinterest has limited its search on coronavirus and the results only show information recognized by competent organizations and that has nothing to do with 5G.
Facebook said it would remove groups that encourage 5G to be linked to the virus. But we still find some publications on the subject.
The truth is that this is a delicate situation, on the one hand we have rumors spreading fear and making people do something less cool and on the other hand we have freedom of expression.
